El Cajon

92020

The city of El Cajon, "The Box", in San Diego County is in a valley and covers 14.6 square miles. Since 1912 when it was made a part of San Diego County, it has continued to grow, now at around 95,000 in population. El Cajon is a pleasant place to both live and work in the county, as there are both residential and commercial areas. Two of the area's biggest employers are Taylor Guitars and Solid Gold. Many residents work locally, while others commute outside of the area.

10 miles north of downtown San Diego lies Gillespie Field, a public-use airfield in this area. This station serves as both a good airfield for general aviators and also the location of San Diego Air and Space Museum's restoration facility. San Diego Air and Space Museum is a nationally famous museum that has many types of aircrafts, including replicas of the Spirit of St. Louis and a F-102A Delta Dagger.

El Cajon hosts many opportunities for continued education past high school, conveniently located near Grossmont College, Cuyamaca College, and San Diego Christian College. The school district that serves El Cajon includes over 24 elementary schools, 12 middle schools, and 5 high schools. The numerous facilities offer quality and rewarding educational experiences for El Cajon residents.

Residents of El Cajon enjoy easy access to great shopping at Parkway-Westfield Plaza, which is a complex that hosts many brand name retail stores, unique boutiques, a few entertainment venues, and numerous options at the food court. This mall offers residents a convenient way to meet most of their shopping needs. As far as recreation goes, in El Cajon the options are numerous. There are several parks including Cuyamaca Park, Renette Park, Red Cross Park, El Cajon Valley Park, Wells Park, John F. knnedy Park, Bostonia Park, Van Zanten Park, and Hillside Park, that offer great recreational opportunities to residents of the area.
